Do all players who tryout make the team?
No, most of our athletic teams have tryouts and we do make cuts. However, there are a few sports that seek to avoid cuts; such as Cross Country, Track & Field, and Wrestling. These offerings are a great opportunity for students to be part of the athletic program.
Is there an athletic fee to play sports?
Yes, the standard athletic fee is based on how many sports the student athlete has participated in for the current school year. Fees are as follows: first sport - $175, second sport - $75, and third sport - no charge. Both Cheerleading and Football have different fees: Cheerleading - $500 and Football - $325.
Some sports have additional fees based on specific apparel and equipment needs determined by the coach seasonally.
When are practices?
Teams practice and/or play everyday after school.
When are game schedules released, and where can I access them?
Schedules are typically released the week of tryouts as we work with other schools to confirm dates. Select Sports&Activities from the home page and select the sport you want to view. On the next page (if needed), select the level (V/JV/MS) and then select Switch Teams.
How will I be notified if schedule changes occur due to inclement weather?
The Athletic Department makes all attempts to make decisions by 1:00 PM for cancellations or changes. However, inclement weather sometimes allows for the decision to be made earlier. There are also cases when last-minute changes will be made due to inclement weather. You will receive a push notification through the MCA app and an email from the head coach.
Where do I find directions/locations for games?
On the Teams & Schedules page each team is listed by season. When you choose a team the published schedule will appear and you can click on the event for the address and a link to Google Maps.
How do I contact a sport specific coach?
We are blessed to have quality coaches representing Metrolina Christian Academy. Our coaches serve in many different capacities throughout the day and are best reached through email contact. You are able to find their information on the Teams & Schedules page.
What is Athletic Family Night?
Athletic Family Night is a special event hosted by MCA Athletics for all student athletes and parents. This night allows the Athletic Department to share our vision, help develop a proper perspective of athletics, and hear from a guest speaker. All student athletes and at least one parent are expected to attend this event.
Are there any additional duties for parents during the season?
Yes, parents are asked to assist with gate duty and help in concessions. If you are looking for more ways to be involved there may be various opportunities to volunteer for individual teams based on the coach's request.
How do I wash my uniform?
The Athletic Department provides high quality uniforms that our student athletes can wear with Warrior pride while competing. When caring for the uniforms there are a few simple steps that can prolong the life of our uniforms:
Be sure to pretreat all stains quickly.
Wash in cold water on delicate cycle.
Hang all of the uniform to dry.
Never place the uniform in the dryer.
When is transportation provided and where does it depart from?
The Athletic Department makes every attempt to provide transportation for off-campus activities. When transportation is not provided, the head coach will coordinate with the team for the best solution to transporting the student athletes safely. When transportation is provided busses will depart from the parking lot next to the Upper School Office near the picnic tables.
